Christmas Markets of France and Germany
Dates: 11/24/2018 to 12/1/2018
Trip Details
We’ll discover how the pedestrian streets of Colmar transform into five traditional Christmas markets, each constituting a mini village with its world-passionate craftsmen. In Strasbourg, we’ll visit the Cathedral de Notre Dame, take a canal cruise and see where the very first Christmas market in Europe took place, the true “Christkindelsmarik.”
Esslingen am Neckar creates a unique setting for the Esslingen Christmas and Medieval Market, displaying medieval flags, torches and banners. In Ludwigsburg, the Baroque Christmas Market is one of the most beautiful in Germany. Heidelberg and Rudesheim turn into holiday wonderlands where twinkling lights dot the lanes and decorated stalls and sounds of merriment fill the air. Frankfurt Christmas Market specializes in miniature marzipan figures called Bethmannchen, meant to represent Father Christmas.
We invite you to enjoy the Christmas Season as never before. Return to the days of yesteryear and take pleasure in a dusting of snowflakes, hot mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, gingerbread, decorated cookies, homemade candies, stirring carols and festive city squares while exploring the Christmas markets of France and Germany.
