- Rebecca Wallace-Segall is the founder and director of Writopia Lab, a national creative writing organization she launched in 2007.
- She designed its mission, instructional model, and sliding-scale access approach, impacting thousands of children, teens, schools, and nonprofit partners.
- She also established Writopia’s Training Institute (2015) and The Positive Literacy Collaborative (2019) with the support of the Pinkerton Foundation.
- Rebecca has expanded Writopia across multiple U.S. cities and frequently presents on topics related to youth voice, creative writing, and literacy development.
- She has received numerous teaching awards, including the Scholastic Awards' 2012 Ovation Inspired Teacher Award and multiple National Gold Apple Teacher Awards.
- Beyond program development, she leads Writopia’s impact assessment and has studied management and impact assessment at Harvard Business School's and Columbia University's Executive Education Programs for nonprofit leaders.
- She completed her Master’s in Urban Education Policy at CUNY Graduate Center and serves on Writopia’s Board of Directors, working to shape the future of writing education.
