Meet Officer Demond Johnson from the Police Academy 11/28
Officer Johnson served as a patrol Officer for three years until 2013, where he transferred to the Recruitment/Backgrounds Section. Wharton Club members and guests are invited!
- Officer Desmond Johnson began his career in July 2010 when he entered the Police Academy. After completing the Police Academy, Officer Johnson was assigned to the 4th District (Wheaton). Officer Johnson served as a patrol Officer for three years until 2013, where he transferred to the Recruitment/Backgrounds Section. He served as a recruiter from 2013 – 2018 and later transferred to the 3rd District (Silver Spring) from 2018 – 2020 as a patrol Officer. After the pandemic, Officer Johnson transferred to the 2nd District (Bethesda) as a Patrol officer until December of 2022 where he transitioned to the current position of Community Services Officer.
- As the new Community Services Officer, Officer Johnson’s goal is to enhance the district’s relationship with the community and to address community concerns and needs. Officer Johnson supports basic police operations, by performing a variety of duties that may or may not require enforcement or intervention. Many responsibilities of Officer Johnson involve helping residents and businesses involved in criminal and non-criminal conflict navigate services, engage with communities and neighborhoods, and support programming for at-risk youth. Officer Johnson strives to be an innovative problem solver who works within communities to best serve their needs.
- Officer Johnson's work is very serious, and we're lucky to have him as a public servant in Montgomery County. There is NO - we repeat NO - similarity between his work and the goofy antics depicted in the blockbuster film comedy series, Police Acadamy. If you want a bit of amusement, however, you might want to view the trailer from the first film in this series: CLICK HERE to view the trailer......don't "cop out." ;-).
