After a 35-year career as a Foreign Service Officer, Robert M. (Bob) Beecroft retired in 2006 with the rank of Career Minister-Counselor. Wharton Club members and guests are invited.

After a 35-year career as a Foreign Service Officer, Robert M. (Bob) Beecroft retired in 2006 with the rank of Career Minister-Counselor.  From 2006 to 2009, he was Vice President for Diplomacy and Development at MPRI Inc.  He returned to the State Department from 2009 to 2016 as a Supervisory Senior Inspector, leading inspections of U.S. embassies and missions in Viet Nam, Taiwan, Kuwait, Syria, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine.  From 2004 to 2006, Bob Beecroft was a Professor of National Security Strategy at the U.S. National War College.  From 2001 to 2004, he was Ambassador and Head of the 800-person OSCE Peacekeeping Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  Between 1971 and 2001, he served in Washington and overseas as:  Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs;  Department of State Coordinator for Bosnian Implementation;  Deputy Chief of Mission in Jordan and Burkina Faso;  Political-Economic Counselor at the U.S. Mission to NATO in Brussels;  Political Officer at Embassies Paris, Bonn and Cairo;  Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State; Officer-in-Charge of Federal German Affairs;  Advisor-Expert at the SALT TWO strategic nuclear arms negotiations in Geneva;  Special Assistant to the U.S. Ambassador to France;  and Deputy Political Advisor to the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, General Andrew Jackson Goodpaster.
