From Ruiqi Chen, Editor at LinkedIn News: As the Ukrainimagese invasion continues, the humanitarian toll is also mounting: More than 2.6 million refugees have fled the country since the start of the invasion, according to U.N. agencies. People around the world are seeking ways to help the Ukrainian people. A number of global nonprofits have stepped up to deliver funds and humanitarian aid in the region, including GlobalGiving, which will use more than $12 million in donations on shelter, water, and economic assistance for refugees, and Red Cross agencies, which are providing medical supplies and first aid training, among other actions.

Looking for more nonprofits helping out on the ground? Here is a list of organizations aiding Ukraine (also others, such as American Red Cross):

From Wharton alum, Total Wine owner, and Maryland Member of Congress, David Trone: Here are some of the many organizations that need support right now:

  1. World Central Kitchen- Time after time, when tragedy strikes, Chef José Andrés and his team of volunteers are there — literally — to nourish and care for anyone in need. WCK has provided millions of meals when disaster strikes around the world. Right now, they’re providing hot meals to tens of thousands of Ukrainians as they flee into Poland. I couldn’t be more proud to call Chef Andrés a fellow Marylander.
  2. UNICEF- Throughout their long history, UNICEF has always put human rights — especially those of children — first. Right now, they’re on the ground in eastern Europe providing much needed resources to the over 1 million refugees, hundreds of thousands of whom are children, leaving their homes.
  3. Doctors Without Borders - The brutal attacks on innocent Ukrainians have left hundreds dead and even more seriously injured. The medical staff from Doctors Without Borders are working day and night to mobilize across Europe, providing surgical treatment, emergency care, and mental health support to those in need.
  4. International Committee of the Red Cross- Wherever you see a Red Cross, you know that there are dedicated humanitarians close by offering support. Right now, ICRC personnel are distributing hygiene kits, connecting refugees with housing, medical treatment, and emotional support.
  5. Voices of Children- This Ukrainian non-profit has supported thousands of local children impacted by war and conflict in the region since 2015. Right now, dedicated volunteers are providing emergency evacuation assistance and psychological support to Ukrainian children.

We have the power — and the responsibility — to stand up for what is right and do what we can to support those in need. We showed throughout the pandemic that the power of our community can overcome any challenge that comes our way. War anywhere is tragic and senseless. Whether it be in Ukraine, Myanmar, Yemen, or northern Africa, we must stand up against violence and conflict. Our support of charitable organizations is a very small part of what must happen to stop this violence. But if we rally together, we can make a difference. I hope you’ll join me in doing so. .
