Privacy Policy...

The Alumni & Friends of the London School of Economics is committed to securing the accuracy and privacy of your information.

Personal information collected
Alumni Relations and Development uses this website to collect personal contact, directory, and affinity information.  Your personal information is used to create a profile about you in our alumni and donor database, or to update your existing profile.

When credit card transactions occur, they are processed through secured sites. Your credit card information is used to process contributions to the University as well as other transactions such as registration fees for events.  Your credit card information is not stored in the Alumni & Friends of the London School of Economics (AFLSE) system.

Use of personal information
Your personal information will be used to provide you with information about AFLSE activities and for fundraising purposes. Your personal information may also be shared with other AFLSE departments and vendors for University-related activities.

Your AFLSE experiences, additional education information, and personal information such as address, telephone, email, spouse, and children may be included in AFLSE community directories that are made available to other AFLSE alumni, students, faculty, and Alumni Relations and Development staff to facilitate contact among members of the community.

When you choose to join programs such as an event, club, or volunteer efforts that are open to broader audiences, your contact information may be made available to participants in that program, again to facilitate contact among program participants.

AFLSE and Development has some affinity partners, such as banks and insurance companies, who offer special promotions for AFLSE students and alumni. The University may share your information with these business partners in order that they may offer you their services or products, under contracts outlining safe data handling practices intended to protect privacy.

Your personal information will not be used for any commercial or philanthropic purpose not directly connected with or approved by the AFLSE.  Unless we are required by law, or under a contract with a vendor to perform legitimate AFLSE business, your personal information will not be given, lent, or sold to any other individual or organization.

We are proud of our alumni and will publish alumni name and degree information (year, school, field of concentration, and dissertation title) from time to time.

Tell us what you like
You may request to suppress the release of personal information, or opt out of receiving AFLSE communications, by setting your preferences on your profile under My Account > My Profile > Edit Profile, or by e-mailing us at XXXXXX@XXX.EDU.  When e-mailing us, please specify which personal data (home address, business information, email, telephone) you wish to keep hidden from directories or other outside parties), or which communication channels (e-mail, regular mail, telephone calls) you no longer wish to receive, or which specific subscriptions you would like to stop receiving.

Non-personal data
We collect data on where and for how long visitors access this site, but we do not know their personal identities when we do so.  Usage data tell us which site pages are popular and indicate visitor preferences, helping us to improve our communications and offerings.

We use cookies, a small piece of information stored on your Web browser on your computer, to store an active login session.  This can enhance your experience when you are visiting our website and going back and forth between the public and private, alumni-only area of the site. Once you close your Web browser, this session cookie automatically terminates.  Regarding cookies, you can set up your Web browser to inform you when cookies are set, or to prevent cookies from being set if that is your preference.

When we send emails, we may track who opened the emails and who clicked on any of the links in the email.  We do this occasionally in order to measure the performance of our email communications and to improve our offerings to specific groups of the AFLSE community.
